A slum in Manoa turned out to be a very livable and beautiful condominium complex of four homes. The homes were in terrible disrepair and needed a great amount of work.

An existing use permit was issued to remove the legal nonconforming status on the property. One home was totally renovated in wood and the other three homes were renovated with steel framing. The steel framed homes have been a showcase of what innovation can take place when new materials are used to eliminate the termite problem.

The narrow dirt road was widened and paved to thirty feet. What was once a termite haven has become a fortress against them.
